We were trying to loacte a cheetah which our guide had heard on the radio ,when I stopped the jeep excitedly , and got to shoot this beauty at almost MFD . I was enthralled by the beauty of this bird in beautiful light and a lovely perch , while my guide was irritated with me for stopping the jeep for a small unimortant bird like this .....esp over and above a much more coveted cheetah ....Well , he does not understand , that for a bird photographer , a bird on a perch is more valuable than 2 cheetahs in the bush !!!!

Camera : Canon 1D MK III
    Lens : 600 mm f4 IS
    Aperture : f 5.6
    Shutters : 1/1200
    Speed : ISO 250

PS : I should have cloned the dust bunny just above the bird ...noticed it only while posting

    Cheers,
    Rakesh

Beautiful colors and sharpness, especially on the head. The perch is rather large but looks fine with this crop. I would have liked to see the rear "claws" a bit sharper, mainly because of the bird's name. Great BGD too.

With a scene like this I think I would have made him stop the jeep too (especially if I was the only other person with him)!! Perfect subject, perch, BG. Although not blown I'd tone down the yellowest yellows just a tad and I'd crop a bit off the top and then left to retain the ratio, just because I find the amount of space above just a bit much. Very well done, lovely image!!
