    D200, Nikon 80-400 at 330mm, f8, 1/1600s, ISO200, spot metering, cropped from the right only to change aspect ratio, RAW conversion with curve adjustment and desaturation of the blues, background blurred in PS.

    I like the striding pose and raised foot. The wave in the BG is a bit overpowering.

    Nice pose by the heron, the raised foot is good and I like the surf setting (I'm used to seeing them around marshes and ponds...) Seems like the face could be selectively sharpened, and the image needs slight CCW rotation.

    Very nice composition, love the colors and the details on your subject. You might want to tone down or blurr the backgroun just a wee bit...:D

    I like the pose and raised foot Would have tried different waves and shooting heights Rather have the bird with more/less wave bg Half and half sort of detracts !!! When working these guys like to give myself lots of options !!!!

    Alfred - I have several more images - each and every one of them would get me in trouble with the HAP though ;) - talk about a not very cooperative heron.

    Dieter I'm glad that I didn't try to expose this one. The bright surf must have made it difficult but you did well under tough conditions. I do like the raised foot.
