I like how this one is stretching with the open bill and showing that great pink color. Shot on top of a hill looking down at the pond. There were construction barrieres up preventing a closer look.

You did well with what you had. Here, simply darkening the pupil would increase the apparent sharpness of the image. Love the raised wings.

Hi Cheryl, Nice pose but the images lacks contrast and is dull overall. So I pulled the image into PS and adjusted the black point and added an S curve I then tone down the whites along the neck with another curve adjustment and a layer mask. I thought the image could use just a bit more pop so i added some vibrance and saturation with another layer and to finish it off I also ran another round of sharpening. I hope you do not mind me working on your image but all it needed was a little bit more work in PS to fully reach its potential.

YAW Don. That is one of my usual rants :) and the reason that I came up with Digital Basics. But even after folks learn the basics there are two additional things to consider: the practice needed to develop the skills and the intangible artistic stuff that you obviously have.

Wow Don, a Major improvement and yes I do appreciate it. I am always afraid to over do it and question my eye sometimes. That looks really great and has inspired me to work on the image . Here's a repost of my own since you got me goin here..

Hi Cheryl, Better but the image still needs contrast a small S curve will do the trick and another round of light sharpening.
