I had edited it normally first and enhanced it on the iPad with 100 Photos in 1 by Trey Ratcliff. I opened it in Photoshop and did a little dodging and burning and I used Topaz Clean at a low amount.

Judy, I think the way you direct the viewer's eye right to the deer is really well done.

Julie, this is a beautiful image...and well processed with that soft, almost glowing, painterly effect. If it were mine I'd try to open up the shadows a bit more, particularly on the chest and right foreleg of the deer...I love the lilies and lily pads and the way they are rendered....nice, warm lighting....well done!

Thanks John! I tried to open the shadows in Photoshop but it didn't work. There is no control in the app to do that as brightness is global. "It is what it is!"

I had an idea! I had saved a lighter version which wasn't nearly as nice but I layered them and revealed the lighter chest. Not much improvement but a little more detail shows up.

Great shot! How did you get it? How perfect is that--deer and water lilies!! I love the light in this image. Glowing, focusing on just the right areas. Lovely work!!!

    Judy,
From the title, I was thinking you had a lily eating a deer, like a fly eating flytrap.
    Nice job,
    Steve

Thanks John! That "look" has a texture/color overlay with black, red and yellow "splotches" and a black one fell on the chest area.

Thanks Anita! I was at an overlook which is up about 20 or 30 ft above the water area at Noxubee Refuge with my 7D and 100 - 400 mm lens and the deer approached the water from the land behind and didn't pay much attention to me as I was very still. She was a long way off, like 300 ft give or take, I'm not good at estimating distances. That camera is unbelievable!!! I never got sharp, contrasty detailed images from that far with the 50D. I was shooting hand-held but I propped my elbows on the railing.

Hi Judy, really like the image - especially the dappled light. The added black detail of the repost looks better to me. Super effect that is different and interesting. Well done!

Judy, Very cool capture. I like the processing and your repost is nice! I might tone down the flower in the front just a bit to keep your eye on the deer. Nice job!!
