    Hi Pat,
    Like what you've done. You have texture in much of the white..........but then you get hard edges. I recommend softening the edges on them......and then cropping some of the white expanse........and it will work,

    Roman and Fabs thank you for your feedback... I did this in September. the shot was in the shade of a dried up stream that had funny water color and it was backlit.. but my first green heron.. I cut and flipped and pasted the second heron in the shot , then used the channel mixer and added some brightness thinking of high key.. then maybe india ink .. that is about all I can remember.. maybe I used something else ... I see using illustrater.... from xero free software might have got me there... I used layers too..
