    Default Mt. Goat Fract.

My first attempt at using Fractalius! In addition I layered Topaz, stylize details and then PB oil paint, at different opacities. I removed all filter effects from the eyes.

    Nice image and application, Nancy.

I like the effect for this subject, though I think it would be too much on some other critters.

What is the vertical "sturcture" on the left side of the head? Looks out of place for the back leg, but ... I might have tried to eliminate that, if it were mine. However, Y I Y V as they say!

That vertical structure is actually loose goat hair whipping around in the wind . It does look too substantial here.

    Nancy,

This image is amazing. A bit spooky too! Very strong.

If I were to make any changes (my 2 cents, and not even worth that) I would not have used the Fractalius on the foreground, and just have left it on the goat.

    Wonderful use of Fractalius.

    Hey Nancy,
I think Mark is on to something with the LH side hairs....seem out of place. I do think Mitch is on to something also but I'm not sure it is the effect.......but the similar color that throws me. If it was grass......I would bring back that color and see if that tweak hits the spot. Glad to see you having fun with the filter too!

Nancy, as soon as I saw this image the thought that crossed my mind was a Mountain Goat King out of Narnia...the application of Fractalius on this majestic looking animal is other-worldly, and leaving the eyes intact from the base image adds to the illusion of something surreal. As others have mentioned, I'd be very tempted to evict the column of loose hair on the LHS...and as Mitch suggested, leaving the foreground unfiltered might add another dimension to the the image...either way, great intro to this particular plug-in for you, and I hope to see more!

I really like the effect on the goat but the foreground does seem to compete with the same color on the goat and I too would evict the hair on the left.

Nancy, I love the fract effect against the blue sky. And oh boy does it remind me of Narnia I think cropping about half of the foreground might be nice.

Nancy...very very cool image! I like it alot. I too would evict the vertical if possible and make the foreground different is some way. Have fun with Fractilius!

I did play around with the foreground for all the reasons everyone mentions. Unfortunately the foreground is pinkish granite rock with lots of texture. I tried to smooth it out and then it just looked blurry, so I think cropping most of it away would be best. I have another image without the column of flying hair so I will play with that one and see what I get .

    Hi Nancy,
Good first attempt. Some good points offered above and nice to see you have additional images to work on and have fun with the filter. I like the contrast of the color of the Goat with the Blue sky. Very nice job bringing back the eyes. Looking forward to seeing the next.

Your frac treatment really works well with this image, Nancy. Has a kind of mystical quality, and like the eye contact. Like the rich blue sky, and also would be curious to see what a starry night sky would look like.

Nancy, This is a nice first Fractalius image Lots of good suggestions.I would reveal the rock and clean up the BG just a touch if it were mine. Nice work.
