    Default First B&W Effects

Thanks to the heads-up from Denise on her blog today, I downloaded the new Topaz B&W Effects and started playing around with it this evening. Since I was playing around with the sliders and presets I don't really remember how I arrived at this, but here it is. The waterfall, although it is pretty much dried up in the photo, is Beamer Falls along the Niagara Escarpment in the town of Grimsby, Ontario.

    Look forward to comments.

Very nice, Andrew. I love cascading waterfalls and this one is great. For this image, I would have loved to see a bit more of the tonal range. Looks like it a great tool; I have to try it out sometime.

Andrew. very interesting...it's so detailed, so intricate...the patterns and textures in the rocks are a stark contrast to the smooth, almost silky flow of the water. It's striking as it is, but like Indranil I think it would be nice to see it with just a little more tonal range; it might help bring out a little more of the silky effect on the water. Like you, I downloaded the new Topaz plug-in yesterday...I've only played with a bit, but so far I'm impressed. I hope to see more from you with it!

Andrew, I like this look and the others on your blog! Very detailed and lots of interest. I could go either way on the tonal range. I'm looking forward to more.

Andrew, this has a very nice OOTB feel for me. I like the contrast range you used. I find myself exploring the textures and enjoying the way the water streams vary over the base structure of rock. Well done!

Nice effect Andrew! I also like the detail in the rocks paired with the smooth flowing water.

    Hey Andrew,
At first I was leaning with Indranil but it may just be the UR bare area without water that needs tweaking?......rest has a very pleasing look to it!

Andrew, nice job on the filtering here. Great perspective on the falls........I'm with Roman on tweaking the URC, perhaps a bit of fade to dark to get more a sense of depth. No biggie, works just fine as is.
