    Default Butterfly Macro Flip Abstract

Started as a macro image of a Blue Morpho butterfly taken at an exhibit earlier this year. Zooming into image, I really liked the fine knitted texture in the wings. Cropped a section of the underwing area, which is actually mostly brown with white, yellow, black, and red spots. Then changed to blue tones using photoshop hue and saturation adjustments. Applied Topaz Clean and Detail and flipped image to create design.

Hi Brendan, nice job on this! The flip worked very well with almost a kaleidescope effect. Good symetry, detail and color!!

Brendan, this is nice. I like the fact that my mind knows it's a butterfly but my eye is seeing feather textures Great idea to flip it.

Brendan, this turned out really nice. I like the details and the symmetry in the design. Good job on your color conversion as well.

Brendan, I like the texture and the effect that the Clean filter added to the image. Nice flip and the color work looks great!

This is great! I love patterns in nature and you really enhanced this one with those brilliant shades of blue and all that fine texture. I know you said butterfly but I think a peacock would be envious!

    Thanks folks, appreciate the feedback!

Cheryl & Nancy, I see what you mean, it does kind of look like the markings on peacock feathers.

I like that I can tell this is a butterfly wing, but also an abstract. Beautiful colors--blue is my favorite color, so I'm biased. Nice idea to flip the image. I think the crop is just right--it keeps the wing filling the entire frame, while still creating two large circles. Good repetition of circles inside, plus lovely textures. Well done.
