    Default Common Buzzard

Not had the opportunity to post much recently for various reasons. This was taken a couple of weeks ago on the Isle of Skye.

    F8, -1 ec, 400mm zoom, 400 ISO, 1/1000. Taken with a 450D & Tokina 80-400mm zoom.

Hi Richard, you have a good idea with your image - just a few things to consider. The bird looks small in the frame. I would crop from the bottom and a bit from the left to make more of a pano aspect ratio, which would help to draw attention to the bird. The buzzard is underexposed, mostly due to the sun angle which is from the left. You will have better images if you get the sun at your back. The eye is very dark and could use some lightening. A bit more saturation would be nice as well. Please post more of your images, we are here to help!

I really like the composition of this, and the lighting on the grass is lovely. But I agree with points above about the exposure, and also the bird doesn't look sharp enough.

Thanks for the comments guys. I'll revist the shots in Photoshop when I'm back on my home PC to see what else I can do with it.

Gordon, unfortunately I think I'm stuck with a certain amount of softness issues due to the lens I own :( I'm hoping I can upgrade it to a Canon 100-400 at some point in the future.

Thanks again, all useful pointers for me.

    Richard
