This is my one water lily photo from Noxubee Refuge, the only one close enough to photograph. I used Pixel Bender, Topaz Clean and Detail, Photo Looks, and Nik Tonal Contrast.

Nice work Judy, lovely effects and composition..not sure about the large green leaf but your vision...TFS
Judy, that's a beautiful lily...and your filtering process did a nice job of handling the shadows...it looks like you had some pretty direct light and the you were able to rein the shadows back in by the way you handled your processing. If it were mine, I'd be tempted to add some canvas to the LHS...and maybe one down the large lily on the right. It's a strong element in the image right now because of the rim light and deep, highlighted areas of green...the smaller one is more visually appealing, at least to me. You could possibly even evict the large pad...extend the canvas to the right...and then add a little to the bottom...this is already a strong image and a tweak here and there, I think, will take it over the top. Nicely done!
Thanks Paul and John. I can't go back and re-do the crop so I removed the leaves. It was surrounded on all 4 sides by other leaves unfortunately so I painted out all but those two. Here is the re-do. I like it better even though the flower is not anchored.
Repost looks good Judy, nice looking lily, and like the soft, painterly filtering work. It looks good against the black BG, good suggestion to remove that one big leaf, but am still wishing for something subtle below to anchor it. I might experiment with adding a bit of green or maybe a water ripple from another image if you have it, or try painting it in.
Very nice image and application, Judy.
Like both of them, for what it's worth.![]()
Judy, you did a wonderful job of evicting the pads...and if you're game, I might have a suggestion to help with an anchor point. You could "reverse crop" to add some canvas...use your crop tool to select the entire image, then drag the middle anchor point on the LHS to the left to extend your canvas. Select the white space created with the magic wand...and then use Edit->Fill->Content aware to blend in the new space with the original. If you still have your original post, you could then copy and paste the larger pad that was below the lily to the LLC of a new...rotating it a bit perhaps...and blend it in to create an anchor point. It's your vision..I'm just rambling out loud! It's a wonderful image already!
Thanks for the comment and suggestion John. However it's too much work for just a non-theme, not to be printed image, and I'm busy playing with my new iPad.![]()
LOL....no worries, Judy! Enjoy the new iPAD!!
Judy, I really like the repost. The black bg and the painterly look to the lily are very nice![]()

Hi Judy, I prefer the repost. Blossom looks great against the black background. Very nice work!
Thanks Cheryl and Andrew!
Judy, Beautiful work with the filter. I think John makes a good suggestion and I think this image may be worthy of printing, especially if you added back that cute little leaf. Either way a wonderful rendition!![]()
Hey Judy,
I like both! I think just toning down the leaves in the LLC may make that one my favorite!
