You're the master of ducks on dark water, Dan. What a lovely, peaceful image. Even the duck looks to be chillin'! Great comp, FG, BG. There are a couple specular highlights on the body, and one on the bill you might consider picking, and seems to be a halo at the back of his head (might just be a little brighter area of BG). Print it up 12x18 on Exhibition Fiber and hang it on the wall. I would if it were mine.

    Dan,
I think this is one of your nicest shots! I love the low angle, the dark BG, the feather in the water, the HA. I agree about cloning out specular highlights on bill and body,

    Dan:

As you may know, I tend to like darker, more introspective images, so like this one!

Sharp and well exposed, good flash work.

Agree about the small specular reflections. I am not thrilled with the multiple thin crossing lines of reflections on the breast. I might try to tone those down a bit.

Great shooting angle. How were you set up to do obtain this angle?

    cheers

    Randy

    Thanks, Ron, Gail and Randy.
I was laying in the gravel at the edge of the water, handholding with the lens just above the water.
    My elbows are still sore!

I like the feel of this. The light on the duck is so nice with the dark bg but i agree about the halo around the head. Almost looks like you burned the bg and missed a spot so I would definately darken that area too for more impact.. I like the glistening drops on the body.

    Pretty amazing, Dan.
Dark bg, great flash work, low angle, nice pose - this one has it all. The spare feather is icing on the cake.
I actually really like the multiple thin crossing lines of reflections on the breast.
Halo mentioned, I'd fix the eye a bit too.
    Superbly done!
