Default Semipalmated Sandpiper Checking Me Out.

Good shorebird photography weekend it was for me. Not much time out, but very high quality time! I wasn't expecting much at his particular location and was happy when I came across two Semipalmated Sandpipers and a Sanderling hanging out together. I managed to "corner" them between me and a small rock jetty (in a non stressful way for them). They remained calm but just naturally kept their comfort distance (which is way more than good enough for my 100-400 with these tame subjects). I then spent over 30 minutes with these three fellas as they fed in their little corner. I got down and dirty in the wet mud as the remants of hurricane Irene gave us strongish winds a great/cold/wet weather. Well worth it though!

Canon 7D + 100-400L @400mm, manual exposure, evaluative metering, 1/200s., f/6.3, ISO 800, natural light, handheld, cropped for composition (~85% FF). Three water streaks eliminated from the BG, and an ugly black piece of debris cloned out at bottom.

Beautiful Daniel. I like the fresh plumage and the pose. The green adds nicely to the image. Sharp and well exposed. Definitely worth it.

Hi Daniel, love the soft, subtle colours of the plumage, juxtapose to the vibrant green of the shoreline habitat. Lovely, low perspective with a nice HA, excellent DOF. Good to see a clean image from the 7D at a higher ISO and doesn't look 'sooty', sweet.

Very nice Daniel. I really like the windswept green grasses in the BG. It makes for a nice punch of color I like the position of the plover and great IQ at ISO 800. Great low angle.

He's a chubby little one. I like the detail of the bird and the great greens in the bg.

Lovely low angle and pose, Daniel. The habitat adds a lot of interest to the frame.
Sharp and great colors. Masterfully processed as usual.
