Hi Gail -- I really like this shot of the wind ravaged eagle with mean-arse eyes and pedal to the metal talons! I also like the high keyish water which looks a little abstract. You did a nice job of capturing the shadowy scalloping of the feathers in spite of the bright background. Good work my friend.

Wow; great capture. Looks like this guy just flew through the eye of Irene. Love the talons, the focused look, and (as Danny noted) the abstract water BG. Nicely done.

    Gail:

Excellent critique from Danny. Very intense stare, looks like a serious warrior, with beat up wings, but deadly talons.

I took a minute to tone down the water a bit. It was so bright that I found it a bit distracting. This is purely a personal taste issue. I would also consider removing the grass in the water. There is enough texture in the water that you don't need it to add depth IMO.

    Show us some more!

Wicked pose, and the intense concentration is very cool. I do wish the plumage was in better shape, but I have to admit this does give this guy some "history" behind it. I like what Randy did to the water especially for the separation of head/BG this gave. Bad luck for the vegetation to end up where it did. Overall very dynamic image, I'd love to have something like this in my files!

I love the way we are all so different because I think that the plumage condition is what makes the image. Its a good thing we aren't all the same are the world would be a..........etc.

    Love,

Nice capture. I also like the plumage, because it tells the story of an Eagle that has been through a lot ! I do like the water toned down a bit in the re-post and the vegetation doesn't really bother me that much, but if it does you, it doesn't look like there is too much of it to make the cloning job a large task.

    Gail:

I did a multiply layer on the entire image, added a layer mask, and then eliminated the multiply effect from the bird by painting a mask over just the bird. I used a wacom tablet, which is pressure sensitive, makes it easy to draw in complex masks.

    Cheers

Very nice Gail. Great look at those wicked talons and a really awesome stare. I like the water toned down and the vegetation doesn't bother me.

Nice image Gail! I like the forward reaching talons and the well worn look of the eagle. I like Randys repost.

Very nice pose Gail. This is one of my favorite positions of a bald eagle. I love the outstretched talons. I like the repost with toned down BGD. I may have considered removing the grass myself. TFS
