Lovely pose and BG. Talk about a lucky head turn on this one. He appears to have been angling away from you. Was any method used to get the head turn or was it just great luck?

Hey Gail, it was a full frame camera, but this image is cropped about 20%. Thanks.

Hey Marina, The bird kept his eye on me the whole time he passed. Thanks.

The head turn does make the photo as he is angling away.
The usual sharp, well exposed and well done BIF from you.

The eye contact is good, but your last Long-Tailed Duck was so awesome that this one leaves me wanting a better pose.

What an interesting duck - love the plumage! Doug's comment has made me want to go and search for the previous one

Wonderful shot. Great head turn and beautiful plumage. I had no idea they looked like this when not in New Jersey. Ditto Morkel's comments; I'll have to find the prior post. Might have given him just a tad more room up front, if I had been so lucky.

Hey Alan - As I've said before, images such as this demonstrate that set-up photography is just one of your many talents. I would give anything to get such a close-up flight shot of a species like this and the head turn/eye contact is over the top cool. Great work.

Another great flight shot Alan. Great detail on the front wing.
