The Black-fronted Dotterel lay their eggs among gravel surfaces for camouflage. This may be among pebbles along a creek bank or on the verge of a highway. There is a recording of a pair that lay their eggs between railway lines in a shunting-yard. So accoustomed were they to trains that they would remain sitting on the eggs as the train passed overhead :)
