Last light or not the image as presented is too dark overall:) There is little to no detail in the darks esp. in the wet feathers just behind the bill. COMP and BKGR loverly.

    Gary:

Even though I like darker images such as my recent loon posting, I think this one is a bit too dark as Artie mentioned. I played around with it, and feel there is lots of room to brighten it up without blowing the whites, which is always a concern with these guys.

    Its in there!

    Cheers

Nice pose and composition. I wish for a brighter presentation.

You have the makings of a nice image here, Gary, with some work in RAW. You could bring up the blacks and make that BG really pop. I think it would be worth the work.

Awesome BG, sharp with nice low shooting angle. Here is a brighter version with some more room at the top which I feel adds to the image. Also converted to sRGB and I think it needs a tiny bit of CCW rotation.WDYT?

Great job on the repost, Ofer. It just needed some TLC.

Repost is better but the wet area behind the bill is--unfortunately--not very attractive. :) And not very sharp.... At least from here.

Artie, I was/am pretty happy with this image. Even though it needs a lot of work and certainly not a
Top grade image to get one even this good is an accomplishment in Southwest Michigan. I will keep
Trying with these skedish fellas. In fact, I am working on a new plan for their fall migration. Hopefully,
With good results. Keep learning, keep trying.

I understand. I do not have anything very good on this species either; it is a tough bird....
