What a bird !! Quite common , but difficult to get a good closeup of this one . While I was lucky to get him quite close , had to contend with low light for this one . Cloned a twig running thru his body and one thru the tail .

I was hoping to get him again when there was good light , but that did not happen .

Camera : Canon 1D Mk III
    Lens : Canon 600mm f4 IS , 2 X TC
    Apeture : f 11
    Shutters : 1/125
    Speed : ISO 1600

    Cheers,
    Rakesh

Wonderful job with the 2x, colors look very nicely done with that combo. nice bg, looks like a smaller one to me.

    Rakesh:

Excellent angle in frame, exposure and sharpness.

I can see some evidence of the clone work, in the extreme right lower corner, and a faint mark perpendicular to the back about 1/2 way along the back.

The faint blues in the background go well with his color.

Hope you get another chance at him.

    Cheers

For me the low light enhances the subtle variations and blendings of these amazing colors. Bright light can seem to just bounce off these colors, making them harsh. I agree with Randy about the cloning work. Easy enough to touch up. While you are at it you might want to also clone out that OOF branch nearly parallel to the main perch. It is somewhat distracting. This is an fantastic bird!

Just love the bg and the suble colors in this soft light.
    Gorgeous bird indeed.
IQ is great with a 2x at that high iso.
A slight head turn would've kicked this up another notch or two.
Is there some PP artifact in the LRC?

Very colorful bird, love the sharpness, the details, the background color and the pose. There a few dust spots which can be taken care of easily.

A beautiful bird. I also think the low light has been a help rather than a hindrance. Love the colours......
