Shot yesterday at the Botanicals; used the 100-400 @310mm, f/16@1/125. Processed the RAW file in LR; cropped a bit from the top and adjusted tone and color in PS. Applied Topaz->BuzzSim, followed by NIK ColorEfex ProContrast; merged those two layers then adjusted the opacity to let more detail from the original come through. Finally used Fratalius to create a pencil-sketch effect and lowered the opacity on that layer to about 30% to let the color show through from the previous layers; then boosted the saturation just a bit to give it a little more pop.

All that work has really paid off well for you. I really like this a lot. The flower and its base are exquisite. Thanks for sharing the process. My only suggestion might be to evict the tiny bit next to the petal to the left of the main body of the Lily (UL).

Very nice filtering and composition John! I agree with Dave about evicting the bit near the petal.

The petals look marvelous--white with a hint of color. Lovely set against the dark BG. The colors in the lily pad are nice, as is the reflection. There are several whitish things near the upper petals that might be cloned out. I might tone down that bud emerging near the pad as it is so bright it draws my eye away from the gorgeous flower. Nice work! Thanks for the description.

Dave, Judy and Anita, thank you for your comments and suggestions. Anita, I have to thank you...the "whitish things" you referred to were artifacts/results left from one of the filtering applications that I didn't catch...while I always zoom in when doing my initial work on an image, I often just do a "fit to screen" when applying filters and didn't catch those remnants. Thank you for pointing them out (sharp eye!) and lesson learned! Dave and Judy...I'm not sure which bit you've targeted for evicting...can you help me out? Are you talking about some of the underwater stem? Part of the reflection? Thank you for your comments!

John, I love the image. I'm not sure if Anita and I are seeing the same thing but there is a whitish wispy looking thing on the outer edge of one of the petals on the left about half way up on the main flower. It almost looks like Tinkerbell for lack of a better description.

I'm seeing the same thing as Cheryl. One of the reasons I post my images here is so others can catch these types of things that I miss.

John...This is exquisite! I really love the detail in the petals and the pad! I can't say I care for the reflection in this shot much but hey that's just me

Cheryl, Anita...I am sitting here laughing at myself! Anita, I thought I had evicted all the white wisps you referred to earlier..I had found the artifacts from the filter I mentioned in my earlier response to you...and I couldn't for the life of me figure out what else was being pointed out until Cheryl's Tinkerbell reference. What everyone was pointing to is a dragonfly that I intentionally left in! At the small size posted here it can't really be seen for what it is...when looking at it at print size on screen you can see it for what it is. I'm sorry it took so long to realize what everyone was pointing to. Here's the repost...

...and here's a VERY "zoomed in" detail of the dragonfly before eviction!

John, The repost is terrific. I would have never guessed what the artifact was w/o the close-up. The softness and filtering are top notch. I love the colors and the comp. Well done.

I agree, this is a fantastic image and I like the delicate touch with Fractalius. Poor old dragon fly, but I'm sure he'd be fine in a different style of pp and a larger image.

A beautiful lovely image with magnificent manipulation on your part. Good suggestions offered above that you wisely followed and completed a good base image to begin with. Good job, John!
