Mitch, looks like you got a pretty good look at Irene I like the filtering and the oranges on the wing that are reflected in the wave. I could see a little cropped from the top also.

Mitch, nice job on this one..it reminds me of the classic lithograph of a tidal wave. Wonderful job of processing the wave...nice job of placing the seagull turning into the wind...very nicely done.

Very nice processing, Mitch. It reminds me of an engraving, I love the composition with the gull on one side and the wave on the other, and the colors are very nice too. Well done!

    Nice image and application, Mitch.

Glad you were able to get a safe photo before the big storm.

Looks neat with the bird circling over the stormy sea.

    Cheryl,

We were really lucky... Some damage, but not really bad. The water was higher than I have seen it in the 20 or so years I have been here, but the wind, while feisty, did not reach the levels that would have really put us behind the 8 ball. The photo that I used for the background was looking down, so the wave does not appear as large as it really was. Also, it was taken in a fairly protected bay... I have attached the original (real grey, the light was bad and I could only take one shot at a time as the wind blown spray immediately covered the lens).

I am thinking of suspending the "Flood" filter for the rest of Hurricane season. I don't like tempting fate.

    Thanks for your comments.

    Mitch

Thanks for looking and for your comments. Irene was an interesting experience, but fortunately weaker than expected. I would hate to be in a really powerful Hurricane!

I like how the bird and the wave are facing each other. Thanks for showing the original image. Nice processing and lovely colors.

Mitch...I love your rendition of the waves but find the bird element not as strong.....The oranges on the wing are a bit too strong for my tastes and the bird seems to have a green cast...I guess i would like to see more seperation of the birds and the waves behind his wings....Just my two cents...follow your own vision!

Mitch, I like the struggle of color , it adds to the feel of the image. I might tighten the crop at the bottom to eliminate some of the foliage. Nice look to this one.

Great capture of the "energy" in the waves. Like it a lot!

Interesting composition which certainly makes a statement. I almost think I'd prefer it with just the waves, but I'm not sure.
