Shot very early in the morning from my hide, one bird that so far has survived the start of the shooting season.

Awesome details, love the grassy habitat, and the vertical comp is very good. I'd darken the pupil, and I'm not sure the bit of sky adds much here...I'd experiment with either cropping it out, or cloning over it to see if that strenghtens the comp. A degree or two better HA would have put this over the top! Still very appealing as presented...glad this guy is so far evading the hunters...

Cheers Daniel, I was in two minds regarding the sky, but kept it in just to break up the BKG, but it could work cropped or cloned, will take a look. The eye was as shot, but again, could go darker, just worried at this size it might have looked just a black blob.

    Appreciate the feedback.

    cheers

Be patient Christopher who knows what may follow, but agree, the purple heather really makes a excellent backdrop. This was near a well known INN, not my usual location, but I did get another species too.

    I love this image, Steve.
The light and habitat are just gorgeous. I actually quite like the sky here.
The bird with it's dark colors pops so nicely against the bg. I only wish for a head turn.
