    Default Skimmer Storm

This is a flock of skimmers that I added Fractalius and Simplify to then a texture overlay. I processed this image trying to imagine what the skimmers were doing before hurricane Irene hit.

I REALLY like the colors in this one...looks like a very early morning sky, with that wonderful palette of muted pinks and purples...and I like the texture you were able to draw out of the BG as well. The portrayal of the skimmers is unique...almost like a pen&ink drawing over a watercolor wash...with just enough balance between detail and blur that your eye doesn't lock on any one bird, yet you still recognize them as skimmers, particularly where there is one with some separation from the flock (I love the one skimmer in the ULC, highest one, closest to the edge). I think, to date, this is one of my favorite OOTB images from you...beautiful!

Wonderful composition, Denise. It's a almost a combination of sketch and water color painting. I like the blacks you have maintained to give the depth. Excellent processing!

Very nice image and application, Denise.

Like the effect of the sketch look and the colors.

Hope you and yours are out of Harms Way. Been there and done that, not fun to ride out and the aftermath of downed wires and food/fuel lines is no picnic. Stay safe.

Denise, this is so lovely. The colors are wonderful and it has a color washed look to it that I find so appealing. The texture is perfect for the image.
Hope you're none the worse for wear after Irene

Very lovely colors, Denise. It looks like early morning or perhaps twilight. I like the watercolor-like texture to it and the sketch look of the skimmers.

Hope you weathered Irene just fine. It wasn't too bad up here.

Cheryl and Christopher, thank you. Four trees down in my yard and a huge clean up. The storm knocked out my cable but I am tethering so it isn't too bad.

Denise....This has a lovely look to it. I love the colors and the backlit bg against the birds. I wish it were not quite so crowded but flocks of birds are very hard to do.....I like this alot!

Thanks so much folks! I appreciate it.
Thanks Steve, just getting the yard back together, I now have internet, cable and phone-whoohoo! It was becoming a pain to tether my cell but at least I had that option.

Hi Denise, simply beautiful! Glad you got the internet and such back on...sorry about the trees. It is never fun cleaning up downed trees. Take care.
