    Default A Jolt of Color

This is one of the last ones from last Saturday...400mm, f/16@1/30. RAW files processed in LR; cropped the image a bit from the top, bottom, and RHS to tighten the composition...I normally don't center the focal point, but in this instance I thought it would work. Brought it into PS...touched up a few burn spots on the petals...evicted a bug or two...and burned the top portion of the image, darkening the pads to add more depth. I then applied Topaz->Simplify->BuzzSim on one layer and Fractalius->Slow Motion on another. For the last touches I played with the opacity of each layer, bringing back some of the detail of the original. For this image, I left the saturation a little higher instead of toning down the effects from Topaz...hopefully it worked!

I love the effect of the filters on the flower, it looks stunning. Not so sure about the foreground though. I find the leaves/reflections a bit distracting as they seem so much in contrast with the rest of the image. But the flower really steals the show here.

John, I like this one. It has a lot of interest. I might take a slice off the top if it were mine. The filtering looks terrific. I am loving these images. I see Hilary's point about the foreground. I do think it is a matter of preference.

Judy, Hilary and Denise..thank you for your comments and suggestions. I took a little off the top...and toned down the foreground so that it was so overbearing...here's the repost.

John, I am back to Pandora again and it is getting better! I love the angle of lily. For me the fluid and translucent leaves add a great perspective. The colors and filtering is just stunning. Excellent work.

John, beautiful image. I think I like the repost better but they are both gorgeous. Great choice of filters
