Had a great week up in the Shetland Islands. A few weeks late for the peak bird season, but still lots of good opportunities (& midges!).

A first for me: manual exposure. Realised the necessity of switching to manual as these white birds in sunlight moving rapidly between different backgrounds.

    Hi Gordon,
very nice gannet in flight. Both the whites and the blacks have detail and overall the bird is sharp. BG is swell too. Love a good gannet photo and I say you have one here indeed. TFS

    Hi Gordon,

An excellent capture - good pose and head angle, and details in the whites. The overall image, particularly the bg, seem just a bit dark, and slight selective lightening, leaving the whites on the bird as they are, might make it even better,

Hi Gordon, nicely captured flight image using solid panning technique and excellent techs. Well done! Exposure and color look good to me and I love the sharp eye and feather detail. Just a bit more lift of the front wing would have brought it (and the part of the body) out from the shadow. I would suggest a little more room on the top and left edges of the image. Nice work!
