Well, I don't do much macro either... For this one I used DAP in the "wax" configuration which simulates crayons. I blended that in with some of the original layer (which had been processed with PB oil paint) and added a texture to the background. Hope you like it.

Neat effect here, Kerry. The only thing I see that I might change would be to lighten the front half of the body and the eyes just a tiny bit more. They feel dark and closed off compared to the bright red on the back of the body. Another option might be to lighten the catch light in his eye to draw the viewer's attention to that specific part of the image.

Cool idea to use a "crayon" effect - I don't think I've seen anything like it before!

Neat Kerry! I like the complimentary colors and the texture. Great work with the filter too. Jules makes a good suggestion.

Very nice image and application, Kerry.

The feel of the power of the colors is very interesting in this image.

Hi Kerry, I like the overall look of the image with a pleasing mix of detail and softness in the subject. The translucence of the wings is also a plus. The diagonal stem gives strength with the textured backround creating a nice backdrop overall. Well handled!

Kerry, I don't know how I missed this earlier...and you're killing me with these "don't do much of these shots"! Nice mix of filtering and detail...the stem give a good line through the composition..I really like the BG you created..and the dragonfly is wonderful. Jules makes a good point about lightening the head and the front part of the body...this is nicely done!

I love the red dragonfly! I have never seen a red one. It makes a nice contrast with the background and I love the texture. Very nice all around!

I think the combination of filters and subject matter work perfectly here. I haven't used these filters but the results people keep posting have me very interested indeed!
