I shot this a few years back. While the males are showy these have qualities all their own...

Never seen a Merganser look like that The texture is almost metallic... very nicely done.

Really good base photo, and interesting presentation. I love the hoodies. I have only a few distant pics of them.

I love the colors in the duck and the background. The filters' effects on the bird really brings out the feather detail. Well done!

I really like the way you use the Topaz products Dave. Nice control and end result with all those details. Only thing I'd consider changing would be the tiny water drops on his back as they aren't really big enough to add to the image so I'd probably clone them out.

Dave, I think this is one of my favorites of yours...the processing is somewhere between hyper-realistic and surrealistic....it's just a great combination of texture, color, sharpness and a really nice base image. The lighting is beautiful...I love the pattern created by the stones in the water in the BG...and I tend to agree with Julie...while the water drops don't bother me, I think evicting them might make for a cleaner final image...it's really a matter of personal taste. Nicely done!

Dave, I really like the bg colors and how they mimic the colors in the duck. Details and painterly look are excellent. Very nice.

She looks like she just came from the beauty saloon! What a hairdo! The details brought out in the processing are excellent, as are the colors, with the water mirroring the colors of the bird. I, too, suggest cloning the little white spots, and toning down the bright area of the log. We want all the attention to go to the bird.

Wow, Dave, I love this! The effect on the merganser (I really like the way the females look) and the stones in the water are stunning.
