    Default Topaz B&W Effects

    Attached Images Attached Images

I received my beta copy of Topaz B&W Effects and I have to say I love it. There are so many presets and lots of different looks can be achieved from the filter. On my blog is some info from the company but WOW- it is a fun program that is very versatile. I created the image above by using multiple filters from the new plug-in. It is very user friendly just like their other plug-ins are. I am on the road but I wanted to share this with everyone. I will comment on everyone's images when I get a chance. I see a few that are amazing so I can't wait to take a closer look. If you want to read more about this plug-in you can visit my blog post here.

Denise, as I noted on your blog, this is an incredible image...and shows a lot of promise for the new Topaz plug-in (it helps that you had a fantastic base image to begin with! ) It has that painterly quality that I love in images like this...and I really like the flow of pattern created by the wings and heads..I REALLY like what the one bird, wing tips down, with great bill color, adds to the image (LRC). The three bands of color in the background adds visual interest and depth without being distracting....great job!

I read the description of Topaz B&W, and if it is 1/2 as good as they claim, it will be a real keeper! I look forward to the release. Love this pic. What a density of wings!

Wonderful base image Denise! I think the new plugin is very exciting. I watched the intro video last night. I think that since it adds color it will be a nice addition to Silver Efex. I really like the way you processed this one.

I really don't intend to buy this plug in since I have Silver Efex and can easily add color using duotones in CS5 but I do like your end result - very nicely blended with just a slight touch of color to it. I can see this as a large mural print.

Thanks folks! The plug-in has a lot more to offer than duo tone and B&W in my opinion. Many of us have a variety of plug-ins and programs and adding another to the long list is hard to justify. But for some this may be a way to combine some of the filter effects since you do get some creative effects along with the others. as always TRY BEFORE YOU BUY!

Hi Denise, sweet image and wonderful vision as always. I'm absolutely loving the two main color ranges of muted bluish and reddish. I have Silver Efex also, but I will probably give this one a try. Does this plugin have the interface like lens effects that lets you "apply" a setting and keep on adding others? Lovely image.

    Thanks Kerry and Andrew,
Kerry, the interface is set up just like Lens Effect.

Very nice image and application, Denise.

Can't wait to try the plug-in, as Topaz has been one of my favorites. Looking forward to more variations with it in the future.

Lovely image. The subtle colors are marvelous, with that touch of color throughout. Excellent beginning image. I'm slightly bothered by the ducks exiting the image on the left sit--no heads. Not sure how one handles this. Thanks for the info on new Topaz plug in. I'd dismissed it as I don't do any B&W, but will check it out.

Mark and Anita, Thank you. I like the plug in a lot and I can't wait to get some time with it.
Anita, In an image like this I don't mind the cut offs however that is a personal preference. I think when the flock fills the screen from side to side something is going to get cut off.

Denise, this is great! I watched the Webinar today and it definitely looks like it's worth buying. They said it should be out next week with a special offer that'll last a couple of weeks.
