Saw them only once in my 9 day trip in Kenya . Not sure if they are that rare . Did get these lovely birds quite close too . But wanted to make a scpae which would show off the lovely habitat they inhabit .

Camera : Canon 1D Mk III
    Lens : 600mm f4 IS
    Aperture : f 7.1
    Shutters : 1/1250
    Speed : ISO 160

    Cheers,
    Rakesh

    Rakesh:

I like the concept, small subject in frame to show off environment. I might move him just a bit left in the frame by adding a sliver more on the right if you have it, and a corresponding crop from left.

The light angle has cast part of the birds face in shadow.

Because of the muted color palette, I find the black printing distracting.

Hope to see more images from your trip.

    Cheers

Nice to pull back sometimes and show the habitat, Rakesh. Like the pano, good detail & sharpness, and you can see its black belly clearly. Randy makes some good suggestions.

Rakesh, very nice environmental shot. agree with Randy on moving the bird a bit to the left. wondering how this would've looked at a wider aperture. did you get time to experiment?
