Shot from a boat a couple days ago in the Long Island Sound off Greenwich, CT. Light was nice, it was about 7:30 am and just clearing up after a stormy night. Wish the eye was better in focus and sky wasn't so boring. Did Smart Sharpening, a bit of lightening of shadows under wing. Ran NR.
    Cropped about 40% or so.
Would very much appreciate comments and critiques. I hope you like it!

BG shows off the bird -- I like it just fine, and the crop is perfect. I like the wingspread and the light. All in all a very nice image. It does seem slightly soft, but I get the impression that it's in good focus. Maybe a bit of sharpening on the finished (reduced) image would help, but it presents pretty well as is.

Beautiful Osprey, Melissa, and nice overhead wingspread capture. Great light and exposure. Really like the pattern of markings and brush of orange on the underwings compliments orange of eyes. Does have a slight softness to it, but as Ron mentions, it does present nicely as is.

I sharpened a bit more in CS4. Hope the repost is an improvement.

Hi Melissa. Ditto above comments. Comp, light and wingspread are great. Repost helps, but maybe just a tad too much - possibly halfway between?? (I can never get it right.) Ideally I might have liked to see a part-profile of the head since his bill doesn't show well here; but that's a minor nit.
