This Jacana was very active in the late afternoon sun, like the colors and pose of the bird. Comments pls.

The open bill, raised foot and water on the pad make this image for me. Well done.

Craig, colors, comp., the lilly pads, pose...superb. I also like the water texture. Angle is a little too steep but it kinda works because of the lily pads. Whites dont show much detail though. Looks like they might have been blown a bit.

    Hi Craig,

I like the composition and I think that the high angle of capture works due to the view of the pad it provides. The pose is also nice for the reasons Alan mentioned. The white appear a bit bright on my monitor. Might be worth reconverting to see if you could tone they down a little and bring in some detail. If you have it I would try a crop that included all of the pad that the bird is standing on.

Man this guy looks like he is on a mission!

I agree with the comments already made.

You have certainly captured his behavior wonderfully and those feet look enormous for his legs.

That raised foot is indeed a thing of wonder. I love everything about this image, including the crop. Whites do look a little hot however. Great job!

I applied curves, to make the image pop but may have been a tad too aggressive resulting in loss of detail on the whites.
Will fix the whites and recompose to include the entire lily the Jacana is standing on

A repost with less hot whites and a small change in crop that introduced a small twig -

Composition is nicer in the repost IMO. White still lack detail.
