    Default Marbled Godwit

Morning shot taken earlier this year at Carlsbad State Beach, CA. Hand-held, lying on sand. ACR, CS5, removed some spots on sand & BG, some burning & dodging and NR on BG. Desaturated some blue from wet sand, but not all. (Just realized I mistakenly listed my last post as a Curlew, it is also a Godwit - oops )

Awesome light and capture. Does the bird tuck in its other leg so close ?

I love the bubbles and warmth of the image. Great BG and IQ. Congratulations!

Perfect light. The brown reflections in the water is a good complimentary color for the bird. There is action in the image with the retreat of the water back to the sea. No shell collectors to disturb your subject. I like the barely seen shadow of the bird that gives direction of the light source. The evidence of recent foraging activity of the bird on the tip of the bill adds interest as well.

Thanks, Shreeni, Ron, Bob, Noelle, and Chistopher, much appreciated.

Shreeni, yes they do tuck their legs close, sometimes it's all the way tucked into the feathers, making you wonder if they only have one leg!
