    Default Gull at dawn

Was out photographing gulls and pelicans early in the morning at Westport (Washington coast) this weekend.

I pulled back the black slider in Camera Raw all the way and I like the look I got. I ran noise reduction on the bird in CS5 and moved the sliders for vibrance and saturation to about 7 after flattening the image- did not sharpen and added a bit of canvas on the left for a 16:9 composition. I would appreciate your C&C and your thoughts on whether a black silhouette would work better.

I like the colours and the gliding pose with flared feathers, but although you like the result here I would rather see the blacks put back in for a full silhouette.

Thanks Daniel. Here is a version of a full silhouette.

I definately like the bg and the composition. I like both posts but I really like the very faint detail in the original.

I like that you do have some detail in the low tones.

I'm with Daniel, I like the full on silhouette better. Background is lovely.

In the repost you could also easily think the bird is flying away from the camera to the left

Love the full silhouette shots myself!
