After last night's storms the air is clear and free of haze and polution. Made for some nice shooting conditions.
I am working on my flight shot skills , as I feel this is a weak spot for me. A few keepers , and lots for the delete button. Oh Well.

Nice dorsal view, Joe. I had to go back and look at the book to confirm your ID; a 2nd year bird maybe?? He looked different from the Herring Gulls I'm used to seeing. I might consider taking just a slivver off the left, and adding an equal amount to the right, but not much. Like it as is.

Excellent topside pose with good sharpness. I might bring up the blacks a little, and I like Bill's suggestion about the crop. Keep up the good work with your flight shots!

A superb and sharp topside view. However, I believe this is a Laughing Gull (first-winter?) rather than a Herring Gull.

Certainly a keeper here and a classic top side pose. Nicer contrast, sharpness and dof.

Well Charles , after another look in the bird book , I tend to agree with you. I was unsure , and the best I came up with was a Herring Gull. Shame on me and thanks to you for the correct ID. Not only do I need to practice flight shots , but I need to brush up on my ID skils as well.

Joe, nothing wrong with this shot, and great dorsal view. Good banking angle, sharp, and agree a little off the left will work. Keep it up.

    Thanks Stuart,

Maybe you can tell me how to edit my posting. I would like to change the title , as we now know I ID'd the Gull wrong , and want to change it to a Laughing Gull.
