Very nice view of the eider. Love the symmetry.
The exposure and background look great. It may just be my monitor, but I wish I could see more detail on the blacks.
Hi Arty
I would say the head angle is about 87 degrees off..., but I like it anyway...
DON
Artie, symmetry is the first thing I see in this, and just love what you did with the whites. I like that you have included some of the body, and that BG is a killer.
Great rear shot of that rarely photographed 'Eider Cobra'. This is definately a different view. I see very good detail and the feathers on the head and neck look almost like fur. The BG is perfect.
Jack
I feel that these sort of shots are often overlooked - I personaly like them if they show a unique aspect of a birds plumage. We have a species called the Hooded Robin and it is from behind that the name makes all the sense in the world.
I would have cut the upper part of the body and asked what kind of mushroom it is....And put it in the out of the box forum

Neat! Apart from the symmetry of the head what I like about this is the body angled towards the LLC (makes for an even more interesting comp).
Love the symmetry and the fine details. It is a fun shot for sure.
