Rufous just pass through here, are not year around, so I was happy to get
this midday sun shot (unfortunately) in a friends yard.
I liked the Tail, I don't them fanned very often.

First of all, for a Humming Bird picture in a friends yard you did well. Like the vert framing and the tail fan is a plus. Wish the tail feathers were not in a shadow. Usual stuff,..background is a bit busy,..HA slightly angled away from the lens and could be sharper. Could you have swapped some aperture for faster shutter. These guys are difficult to nail, keep at it.
Hi Dan, nice action capture of the always fascinating rufous hummingbird. We have one that lives year-round in my backyard and others that are seasonal. They are fierce defenders of the feeders and our year-round one knows what the camera is...
It is nice to catch the tail like that, I would lighten that area a bit as it is pretty dark. I think you could also do a bit more sharpening on just the bird. A little bit of head turn would be nice... Good catch!

Good comments from everyone. I see some motion blur in the bird (note the shape of the catchlight in the eye) which is hard to correct with sharpening. I like the flower and the BG but the bird needs to be sharper and will a better head angle for the image to jump out at you.
