Imaged in FL on our way to the FL Keys. I was laying on the ground in the wet sand with the camera about 3 inches above the waters surface.

A beautiful capture with killer peak of the action, killer BKGR, and the perfect head angle. EXP and SH right on. I am confused as to the prey item.... Any clues? Looks like a larval something.

Thanks a pile for the Kudos Artie, I'm pretty sure the biologist will need to pipe in for the official answer, but I was thinking Sand Crab or something along that lines.

YAW. If it is a sand crab it is a new view of one for me; it just does not fit my brain for sand crab.

Great on getting low, Chad. It's the only way to get these kind of images. Killer BG, too. Looks like a crab to me.

I am surprised it is only 1/1250!
Sharp as you can get, the eye and water drops are really cool.

Simply superb Chad. Great timing, and I like how the prey seems to be holding up the upper mandible. Overall, well exposed and tack sharp, and the droplets between the bill puts this over the top. Well captured.

BTW, it is very difficult to follow and frame action when on the ground so additional kudos to Chad.

Thanks. I can buy it as a sand crab viewed from the bottom in this view. I think I can make out the rounded top shell.
