Here's one I just processed that I took in 2006. Gotta love the Texas size Thistle ;-)

Great BG & pose on this meadowlark. While I really like the thistle, I think it is a bit over powering. Excellent techs.

    Wonderful colors, Alan!
I love the perch but maybe a tad oversharpened?

Killer singing pose. Set-up? Tape? From a blind? Love the foot in the thistle.

Natural perch, no blind, and I used playback.

Thanks Alan. No car as blind?

The YELLOWS are a bit hot. Applying a BLUE PhotoFilter only to the bird (using an Inverse or Hide-all Mask) can be used to tone them down.

No car, just sitting in the open. Thanks for the tip.

Thanks Alan. YAW. Overall the image is quite stunning. Had you seen the bird singing from this flower before you got into position?

On Bolivar Flats, there are limited natural perches, so the Meadowlarks use anything that grows higher than the low grass.
I knew it was his territory by watching for a while, then I used a call to bring him over, knowing it was the only high perch around.

Lovely image, Alan. Awesome perch, pose and bg. I too love that foot on the thistle.
Artie, thanks for asking those questions and thanks, Alan, for responding.
    One more, if I may:
where did you place your speaker to call the bird?
Right under the perch, or ...?

Hey Sid, the speaker was on the ground 2 feet away from the perch.
