Taken two days ago . . . I Cropped in LR . . . then in PS Elements I Cloned out part of another bird in the upper left corner and ran USM . . . then I used LR's Recover for a small blown white spot on the far wing.

I like this, Wendell! I think it might be cropped a bit tight on the left and may need a little CW rotation (looking at the ring of ripples around the LH bird). One nit is that I think it might be stronger if the LH bird was looking up.

    Wendel,
I agree with Ian's feedback and only add. Continue to try and develop your subjects. In this case the bird on the left does nothing to support the image. The main subject is the landing I assume. IMO, a wider solo view of the duck landing moves this image to another level. Technically you are growing (for example, adjusting the whites) the next step is stronger composition (this is my challenge too). As always, love your work. You always image interesting moments in nature. Thats for posting and keep it up.

I agree with Jeff's comment about the development of the subject. In my view, the LH bird would have added significantly to the image if he was looking at the landing duck (which would help direct the viewer's eye towards the main subject).

Wendell, what you captured here is two separate images. The goose and the mallard would each stand alone as a good bird photo. Together I'm no so sure, as they are not interacting at all. I think that white patch was blown in the camera, but other than that the exposure is nice and the colors look good. I think Ian has it right regarding the rotation.

Ian, Jeff, Kerry . . . Thanks! Looks like my experiment with these two subjects failed. I considered naming it, "Wake Up, Buddy", but I can see that would not have saved it. And I did not think it fair to do a major Clone job to erase the Goose. So, it's back to the "wilds" for another try. I'll see if I can convince the Mallard to use a different runway . . .

    Wendell,

Thanks for the great attitude and stay focused. I have been reading short articles on developing my eye. Trying to see something different, interesting and knowing how to frame it. This is a journey for me. Look forward to seeing more from you real soon.

Wendell - the image prompted a good discussion about developing the subject matter. Sometimes that is more important than the image itself. However, nits aside, I think it's a fun image and your timing was great.

    Rachel
