    Default Gannet: off the edge

I love how the gannets seem to just drop off the cliff edge when conditions are windy. In most places this was happening with the bird angling away from the camera, but I found a small inlet in the cliffs where a few birds were perching and then taking off at a more photogenic angle. Personally, I wish I had included a bit more space below the bird.

Look forward to hearing your C&C.

Ben, well timed for the take off, and I do like the forward wing position. I like that we can see the rocks in the LLC. To improve your comp, I would take a bit off the top - in that way it wont look like you need more space below.

I like the pose and the sharpness. Good job optimizing your photographic opportunities by exploring the environment. Since you had no extra canvas at the bottom, I like Stuart's idea of taking a sliver off the top. I don't mind the bird looking down, but a little more eye contact would have been nice.

Love the soft light and the rocks with the plants. Nice dorsal view of the wings. Wish that the bird had been angling a bit more towards you. SH and EXP good.

Many thanks for taking the time to comment Stuart, Doug, and Artie.

I will try cropping to take a bit off the top.
