Last year while out at the local ponds I spotted a pair of Sandhill Cranes doing there crazy "Happy Dance". It's pretty amusing if you've never seen it. I was happy to get this shot just before they stopped.

What a fantastic shot, Cheryl! That's hysterical. Looks like he's doing the can can! Great sharpness, detail, EXP. Maybe tone down the brightness in the bird's right wing a little, my eye is drawn to it. Love this shot!

    Cheryl,

That's no fool, that's the Can Can!

Seriously, subject trumps light, despite it (the light) being a little harsh. Great image! Could do well in Natures Best animal antics category.
    Good phase angle too.

Way cool rocking pose, EXP good, sharp. Makes you laugh. My only wish would be for a better head angle.

Love this one, Cheryl. The raised leg with a little bit of motion really works. You have a nice BG here. If it were mine, I would tone down the whites under the one wing. In a perfect world, a better HA would have been nice, but this really works. I just love it when pictures tell a story.

Hey Girl. We must have been posting at the same time. Does the repost work better?

Cheryl, well done for capturing the moment, and love the wingspread. The flying legs look good. I would maybe add a bit more space on the RHS, same space as the left.

That's a funny question. I think its part of the mating ritual . They usually jump up and down and kick around some... pretty funny. Thanks everyone else for c&c

A fun image, great pose...and the possible captions are limitless. You should clone in a pink feather boa around its neck!!

Looks like this crane really wants to be a rockett! Way cool image. Congrats on a very evocative capture.
