Nice image. I would take some off the bottom as the reflection is distorted anyway. Good IQ and comp and I like the inclusion of the environment. Might go a bit brighter overall.

    Hi Thijs,

Can you also include the tech details of the photo? Nice bird. Image can use some more brightness. I would definitely crop the bottom to above the white reflection as it draws the eye too much. You might want to take some of the left and right side as well. The OOF leaf infront of the left leg is kind of disturbing.

    Goed gedaan!

    Hi Thijs,

I also like the bird and environment. I also agree with cropping off the bottom. If you have it I would add some back on top. Hope you don't mind but to to show what I mean I made a few edits (disclaimer: with the original file and more time and skill you certainly could do a better job than I present here).

    • Crop some off the bottom to eliminate the distorted water
    • Added canvas to the top to more the bird down in frame
    • Lighten the image a bit

    • I also used a color layer to tone down the white in the water and the lighter bit just in the background in front of the bird.

This is definitely changes the presentation. I will leave it up to you if you think it enhances or degrades the image. I realize that some of the edits I made are more invasive than some are willing to do but, these are presented as alternatives and thought/thinking points for future captures.

Thanks for sharing an enjoyable image!

    Regards,

    Phil

Thanks for the comments and the edits. I do think it improves the image a bit. I cropped some of the top because there was more disturbing background.
