Wicked subject, spot on techs and SH, a nice background, a a perfect head turn for this tight portrait. Being unfamiliar with the location, I ask, is it a captive bird?

Nice portrait of a very cool bird. Good pose, comp, and background.

    Thanks, Artie & Aidan

Yes, Artie, when I say animal park bird sanctuary, I'm making a feeble attempt to say that it's captive without having to say the word "zoo". San Diego Wild Animal Park. The natural range description for these guys is north-east South Africa and west Swaziland.

Thanks. Been there :). Nothing to be ashamed of. BTW, there is a Captive category in the new BAA contest. Click on the link in my signature for details.

Brenda, it seems a bit bright to me. Sweet shot.

Love the colours. Would darken the top of the head a little bit as it seems the bird was lit from the top.
