I merely cropped and sharpened. I feel that this has potential but I would like some feedback on what can be done to make this work. This is an Egret in Bombay Hook National Wildlife Refuge, so I really can't repeat the shot.
I like the symmetry of the image, but I am not fond of the pose.
I would suggest placing the symmetry line right in the middle of the frame and warming up the colors to eliminate the blue cast.
Hello Dawn, you have a nice action image but it has quite a bit of noise all over. There is a blue cast to the image. Posting your techs (ss, iso, etc.) will help people to evaluate your image.
Hi Dawn, I like the artistic composition. I think Jack makes a good point regarding the noise and removing it would bring this up a notch. I took your image into PS and did a quicky with some of my thoughts-of course they may not be your thoughts for the image and it is entirely up to you what you would like for this image. I hope you don't mind me doing so, this is a lovely image and I can see why you like it. BTW-It's a great title. (please keep in mind you could do a much better job if you took your time).

I can see why you like it, the wings up, splash, relatively smooth water.
Denise brought it up significantly. Some won't like the angle of the bird in the frame, facing away, but I do think it can still be an effective image, with its great sense of action
It is very kind of all of you to help me with this. As you probably figured out, I didn't do much at all with this because I wanted to see if anyone else thought it worth working on. I do like what Denise did with this. I wondered about the blue cast, (which has its appeal for me) but I think the consensus is right - better off without it. Moving the symmetry line is also a good idea, I think. I will have to work on the graininess as well. Thank you all again. Now to get to work on it. Dawn
