    Default Piping Plover Chick

I took this picture at Milford Audubon in CT on June 16, 2011 at 6.11pm EDT

    Approximately 70% Crop
Removed Noise from Bird and BG.

I was tired of tracking these (two) young Piping Plover chicks through the viewfinder on a beach full of shells....then I just decided to let go the urge to photograph and started watching them run around and suddenly this young one went to the cleaner side of the beach and posed momentarily for me and I was lucky to have got light behind me...

    C&C Most Welcome!

Great low angle on the shot! Nice soft background. Great capture.

great low angle but the IQ has suffered from heavy compression. looks like something went wrong when you were saving it

    Thanks for the comments guys...

Not Sure Arash if something went wrong while saving this one but I guess it must be my Poor PP technique otherwise this is a clean shot except for the Noise.

The file is only 114KB, so either heavily compressed or too much NR has wiped out the details. Can you post with no NR applied?

    Sachin,

I think the chick has good detail. I think your file size is small because of the 70% crop and the background with all of the same color. I rarely crop that much but I understand how hard it is to get a large size photo of a bird that is small. You are wise to just wait for the bird. I find that if you do not move they forget you are there and often come to you.

I really like the photo, good chick and good background.

Cute little guy! I would loosen the crop to show how small he is in his environment and get some IQ back,

Excellent perspective Sachin, and I actually like the OOF pebbles in the BG. I would try a version with just some NR on the BG, and maybe another round of sharpening on the chick, ( if it will take it )

Love the composition, pose, low angle and soft tones.
When you say 70% crop, do you mean you cropped out 70% of the image? If so, that would account for the displayed IQ.
Otherwise, the problem might have been heatwaves. I've had them ruining some otherwise very nice shots.
I agree with Gail's suggestion of adding more room around the bird to improve the quality of the image.

    Thanks Stuart and Luis...

Luis, there were no heat waves it sure is a result of some mistake on my part while I converted and saved this one for Web.

Will re post today with suggested changes.
