I just loved this little guy taken last year at the Kapok Park .The owls did not return this year. Wish the lighting was better. Cropped to vertical NR and sharpening.

Love the way it has leaned against the tree trunk and nice eye contact...the IQ looks Ok but BG looks a bit scratchy and I can see the reason why it is so...the 2X TC in poor light...

juvi GHO is always a joy to see. Look at those powerful feet and talons! Love the pose and the eye contact. Maybe another round of sharpening on the face especially the eyes. Congrat on getting a clean uncluttered shot.

Cheryl, I like the head on stare/eye contact, together with the lazy pose. Some selective sharpening may help, but I feel your slow ss has let you down here. Pity, as you have captured a great subject. Surely with the 7D, you can push the ISO higher without creating any more noise???

I remember this little guy from last year when he was still in the nest. From the looks of this image, I think it would have behooved me to return. Agree on more sharpening, esp of the face. Love his positioning...the way he is leaning against the tree, his wing outstretched and his claws digging in...all in an attempt to maintain his balance.

Thanks Stuart and yes I agree with much dissapointment. I must disagree on the 7D comment though since I was in a very much hate/dislike relationship with that camera. Noise was the biggest issue with me especially at 400 and up and i couldn't wait to get rid of it.
    Thanks everyone for the comments
