    Default Giant Amazon Water Lily in Bloom II

    Doing something I haven't done before...posting an image in Macro and Flora then tweaking it to post here to see how response differ. This one is from a shoot this morning with Jay...image taken with 100-400 zoomed to 250mm, f/16@1/40. Made it a panorama style crop to compliment the one taken earlier with an unopened blooms. RAW image converted in LR then brought into PS for some regional toning and lightening. I evicted a few underwater stems that were distracting...and I had to rebuild the left tip of the pad. When I shot the original, there was a sign that was rather omni-present covering the left tip, so I zoomed in enough not to include the tip at all and then rebuilt in PS. Then I duplicated the layer, took the image into Fractalius and used one of the presets...tweaked the default settings a bit...and after the effects were applied, lowered the opacity of the Fractalius layer a little to blend it in a bit. Looking forward to any comments or suggestions.

    Hi John,
    You did a great job rebuilding the pad! I like the colors and the pano crop as well. Your enhancements are nicely done.

    Hi Sue;

    Thank you for your comments...Fractalius is unlike any plug-in I've ever used....slowly wrapping my head around it...I wasn't really happy with that first image...so I re-processed it...here's the repost. I think it more accurately evokes the feeling I was looking for...still tweaking!

    Hi John, I like the comp along with the pano crop. My preference between the two is the OP. They have very different looks but I like the graphic quality of the first. Personal choice!

    John, I think you did a great job with this one. I like the OP better but maybe a more subtle effect on the bloom? Great composition and color combo!

    Thank you, Dave and Denise...Fractalius is unlike anything I've worked with before...I see a learning curve ahead!

    Tweaked the image again..trying to soften the original somewhat...we'll see where it takes me!

    Hi John,
    I like your OP, but I see what you envisioned in your repost and I happen to prefer it. I love how the pad and WL stand out more with the black b/g. I also like the Orton effect look to it. It looks a tad hot on the whites on my screen though. If they look good on your end then a Very Lovely image!

    Hi Susan;

    I appreciate your comments and suggestions...and on second glance, the whites did look a little hot. I toned down the highlights...thanks again!

    Last re-post for me, I really like the softening of the flower.
