Every August we begin to see the Rufous Hummingbirds. It is my favorite time of the year for Hummingbirds. I didn't get the whole bird in focus this time, which was disappointing, but so far this is my best shot of them. CC welcome and appreciated.
Nancy Now that I see the image here, it looks a bit too orange? Maybe I need to back off on the saturation a bit. I raised it slighly.

Way to go Nancy, this one looks really good. I like the blur of the wings and the sharpness of the eye. I think the saturation is good. You would have gotten a sharper image overall with a faster shutter speed, of course. These little ones are always moving, even when they are being still. The dark background looks really good. Well done!

Thanks Kerry, I had the flash set up, but it may not have gone off, or I was in the process of switching it over. I'm seeing a few more, so I'm hoping to better opps. to try more.

Thanks for your encouragement and suggestions.

    Nancy,
Been on the road for 2 months so have not seen what you posted but as I've told you before, I think your pics are super with the blur and I love your background. I'd love to take some like you have. If your working with the flashes to stop wings that's great, but I think there is a place for both, and you have the blurred wing pics down cold. I'm envious.

Nice picture Nancy, as you know swapping aperture for speed was an option or more ISO (assume ISO=250). You have nice detail for 1/250, was this a tripod or HH shot. Assume this is natural light too, looks soft and perfect temperature. Colors look beautiful and dark background is very complimentary. Well done, show us more.

    Default Very Nice!

I'm envious! This takes me right into the eye, over and over again. The bill is tack sharp and the background nicely dark and blurred. Great shot!
