    Laurie:

Striking color on wings and tail, curious gaze, pleasant background, although I wish it was a bit more uniform side to side. Because this is a setup, you can probably change things a bit to get a more uniform background behind the perch. Sharp.

The perch is interesting, but for my tastes overpowers the bird a bit.

    Look forward to more.

    Cheers

I like the pose and the expression a lot. I don't mind the perch and would like to see what a vertical
    crop would look like.

Hello Laurie, most of the juvenile birds around here look rather dull, this one is quite colorful. I like the pose, the eye contact, the face is sharp, the color of the perch certainley matches the bird.

The perch adds an interesting flavor here, but it is a bit large for this bird. Good colors, nice eye contact and the suggestion to move the perch a bit seems a good one. Overall, nice!

    Dan,

I did not crop the original so a vertical crop would not show any more perch.

    Thanks Randy,

Compromise always makes something not perfect.
I was out in the middle of nowhere with two other photographers - one on each side of me in blinds. They had great backgrounds. One liked the perch and the other did not.
