dark black bird and a shot that needs both high SS and good DOF. glad the light was good. All comments welcome.

LOL Looks like a train wreck, or should I say powerboat wreck :).. No offense.. Wonderful capture and very unique frozen in time piece of work, great job on the techs. Love it!
What a cool shot, Kaustubh! Love the light and the colors, and the almost abstract quality of this!
Kaustubh - I am not too sure on this one - it deifinitely is an unusual pose! The technicals look good and the water looks great, although a bit more detail in the black feathers might be nice. I do wish you could see an eye or a bill or something that lets you know you are looking at a bird.
Hey KD, what I like here is the hint of the green iridescence, and your ss has frozen the flying droplets very well. Those BG colours look great.
Thx everyone. When they take bath, they put their head in and shake. Then when the head comes out, they shake the belly and tail. Hence, the shot with the head needs much more DOF to cover the splash. Here is that shot. same techs. I like both. posted the one above for the theme.

the right way to do this is with a better camera at f/9 or f/10 and very high ISO to keep the SS high.
For the theme the first works well, and Ilike the spraying water, but as a standalone image I'm afraid I'm one of those who would need a part of the face to be recognizable to make it work. Second image is pretty darn nice though...

Kaustubh I must say that I MUCH prefer image in pane #7 to the original, in the original you cannot identify the specie so it doesn't work for me

Hey KD....This is the first shot you've ever posted on BPN that I didn't like....ha....after all these years! Looks like an avian Rorschach Ink Test. That second shot ain't bad at all though. Keep 'em comin' my friend.

The second image is lovely. Maybe a bit off the top.
My vote is for the second image too. Thanks for sharing.
May be me, but I absolutely love the first image you presented :)
Thx everyone for all the comments. always interesting to see different viewpoints.
If you're looking for diverse opinions, then BPN is the place. Hard to see the bird in the image if you don't know what you are looking for; however, the action and the pastel colors are beautiful. The beauty of wildlife comes in many forms, but it is all beauty to those that see it. Different, yes. Beautiful, yes. Do I like? You bet I do. Thanks for sharing.
Second image rocks KD , first does not work for me even for the theme
