Proper exposure and post processing can yield detail in black and white tonal values in the same image that many would never imagine possible.

What a fantastic capture of such a handsome bird, Charles. I love the strong graphic feel of it. I have a special fondness for crows and ravens. The bill on these guys reminds me more of our ravens than crows here in the US.
The detail in the blacks is indeed stupendous. Would you mind sharing a quick explanation of how you drew that out in your PP?

    HTP as well?

Great detail, nice job with the techs! Not a big fan of the crop, but to be honest its very hard to chop off a bird and have it look right for me... Just my opinion..

Great looking bird and superb post processing. I'll second Chad here - I don't care for the crop either.

    Hey Gang,

The original has the complete bird. The posted image was cropped tight to better illustrate fine detail.

Excellent work as expected...small dust spot midway between the bird's throat and rhs edge.

Amazing exposure and lovely details on both the handsome bird and the snow.
I don't mind the crop at all.
