    Default Little Burrowing Owl

Last November I went to the Salton Sea to visit the California BO's and last month I visited the Florida BO's. The difference in habitat is like night and day. The California BO's live in rust colored dirt mounds on the sides of irrigation ditches and the Florida BO's live in the weed flower patches under ground among the people. (I am no expert, just my observations from my visits). I enjoyed seeing them and I will look forward to finding them somewhere else someday.

A great shot Noelle I like the composition and the pose but I wonder what you think about a little more contrast and a tad less brightness, I attach an alternative for your consideration.

    Noelle:

Sharp, well exposed, classic pose for these guys. I like the framing effect above, but might consider trimming back the bud closest to the head. Just go back to the next bud, so that the curve of the buds matches that of the branch. The distant background is great.

I fixed the thread title for you.

The re-post took the words right out of my mouth. I love the shot and felt it just needed to be punched up a bit. It's a beautiful image.

Noelle this is a fine image of this little owl, very sharp, well exposed, good comp, bg is lovely. Looks like he just picked up his foot, I can see sand dropping from it. Jonathans' adjustments added just a little more punch to it but the op looks excellent.

Nice image Noelle! I like the composition, raised foot, details and exposure. These guys are great fun to be around.

Me too Arash. In the area where these little ones can be found they are protected because people and homes have taken over their space. They build these perches for them and also put PVC pipes near their homes so people know not do disturb or walk over them. So for this group these perches are as natural as they get. Chad and I thought if we lived there we would build them more natural looking perches
